LONDON, June 30 /PRNewswire/ —

UK-based visual artist Deon Winter opens her first London solo exhibition
- De Transcendental - at the famous London Crypt of St Pancras Church in
Woburn Place on Saturday July 5 for 12 days, featuring her light installation
Stella Uno. After its London debut the exhibition will move onto the Rousse
Gallery in Bulgaria.

Exhibiting within the Crypt with its winding corridors, Winter’s work
will create a dramatic transient-like atmosphere transporting the viewer
through the complexities of light, as she explores the power of light within
the atmosphere. Winter’s 3D sculptural spaces interact with the viewer
engaging them with the 2D collection, transcending beyond the normal realms
of perception.

Deon says: “I see light as a sculptural medium, one that can be shaped
and manipulated. My work takes the viewer on an optical journey through the
complexities of perception travelling from reality to the non-identifiable.”
Born in the north east in the 70s, Deon lived on the river Wear where
light playing on the water became a treasured part of her life. Her father
was an inventor businessman driven by ideas and creation. His early death had
a deep influence on her and this, followed by the discovery that she was
dyslexic, meant that her art became a method of communication for her.

With a large family to look after, Deon studied for an MA on a part-time
course in Fine Arts at Derby University and graduated in January. She has
exhibited at Northampton Museum and Art Gallery and won an international Arts
Council grant for residency at the famous MAPP Museum of Art in Milan, where
she had a successful solo exhibition.

Winter’s work is one of experience, offering the chance to explore the
complexities of light and how we perceive it both in a mental and physical
sense. She encourages engagement from the participants who enter the work
detaching them from the reality of the world in which we live. Her ambition
is to have large-scale sculptural pieces of her work in public spaces and
galleries around the world.

Exhibition open 5th July - 16th July. Midday - 6.30pm
Private View 4th July 6pm - 9pm
Press View - 2pm - 4pm Friday 4th July
